"It was great to try out some new foods. All in all a really pleasant experience. I'm already looking forward to my next class."

Indian Home Cooking

While you’ve probably polished off a few Indian takeaways in your time, cooking your favourite Indian dishes at home can be a little intimidating. Until now…

To help you shed your fears about cooking Indian food at home, we’ve enlisted Britain’s Best Dish regional finalist and experienced chef Padmaja Kochera. After moving to the UK 20 years ago and struggling to find the authentic Indian food she loves, Padmaja began to create her own flavoursome dishes with the help of a few phone calls to her dad. She’s therefore the perfect teacher to guide absolute beginners as well as more practiced chefs as they navigate India’s mix of spicy, sweet and tangy flavours.

Join her on this one-day cookery class and she’ll share stories and tips to help improve your understanding of Indian ingredients, spices and cooking techniques, so you can create a wide variety of delicious Indian dishes in your own kitchen.

What to expect

Padmaja’s teaching style is very hands-on and experimental. She likes to incorporate and try new techniques and methods to put her own twist on traditional Indian recipes. As well as watching demonstrations, you’ll get in on the action, cooking alone, in pairs and groups.

All our classes are focused on creating simple and seasonal dishes that you can recreate at home, and this is no different. All ingredients for the day will be provided, but there will be no hard-to-get ingredients or complicated equipment used, so that you’ll be able to source them yourself once the class is over. You’ll also receive your very own branded apron to reuse at home.

What’s a cooking course without a little eating too? You can expect a delicious three-course lunch with wine and a few dishes to take home.

What you’ll need

Please bring with you a Tupperware container and a cool bag to safely transport your tasty treats home. Everything else will be provided for you.
