"Everything was organised to perfection. It was so much fun and it is such a gorgeous venue!"

Baking

Whether you’ve been baking since your grandmother taught you like our founder Claire or recently made your first banana bread, nothing tastes quite as sweet as a slice of cake that you’ve made yourself. For even more tasty treats, head this way…

If you’ve only recently picked up a whisk for the first time, you’ll be pleased to know that baking is the one area of cooking where learning a few basic skills can mean the big difference between a soggy bottom and a showstopper.

With our very own baking expert Melanie Tickle in charge, even seasoned bakers can learn new skills during our one-day baking cooking class. Join Mel in the kitchen and you’ll soon see why the production team of The Great British Bake Off wanted to get her in the tent. Fortunately for us, she’ll be helping you with your technical bakes instead.

What to expect

Baking is simple, fun, creative and therapeutic – and so is our one-day baking cookery course. We’ll help you master the basics to enable you to bake at home with confidence with lots of guidance and support and hands-on experience – some dishes you’ll prepare alone, some in pairs, some as a group and others will be demonstrated by Mel. By the end of the session, you can expect to be able to make soda bread, pastry, a delicious cake and to be able to rustle up a tray of brownies. All ingredients will be provided and you’ll also receive your very own branded apron, which you can keep cooking in at home. What’s a baking course without a little eating too? You can expect a three-course lunch with wine and a few treats to take home.

What you’ll need

Please bring with you a large plate (23cm) to carry a tart home. Alternatively, if you’d prefer, you can also bring your own 23cm loose-bottomed fluted tart tin to easily transport your tart. Everything else will be provided for you.
